Brazilian Portuguese the past and future plans

Tell what happened, explain a future plan, and describe a daily routine. Learn the personal endings, auxiliary forms, and pronouns that make each Portuguese message clear.

Give an event a clear place in time

Use regular and irregular completed past forms to tell what happened, then add a time phrase when context does not already supply one. A completed event can last a long time or include repetition within a finished period. The viewpoint matters more than a simplistic rule based on how brief or recent the event was.

Build a future group from distinct parts

An auxiliary form of ir agrees with the subject, while the following infinitive names the activity. The same construction can describe staying home, so it does not always imply physical movement. Compare future activity with a destination phrase, and make the timing clear enough for another person to understand your plan.

Connect routines to people and time

Reflexive routines require attention to both the pronoun and the finite verb. Brazilian placement before a main infinitive is an established pattern, while other arrangements vary by context and register. Describe your usual routine, report one completed event, then state an intention for tomorrow. Explain the changing tense without losing track of who performs and receives the action.
